II.         EXPERIENCE SUMMARY

 

Mr. Crandall is currently employed as a  Systems Engineer for ACS Government Services, where he has worked for the last five years. 

 

ACS Government Services is the prime contractor for the NASA ODIN outsourcing contract at the NASA Glenn Research Center in Cleveland, Ohio.  As a member of the ODIN team, Mr. Crandall  works on-site at NASA Glenn, providing mission-critical services to several different NASA Divisions and Directorates.

 

Before his employment with ACS, Mr. Crandall was webmaster and part-time systems administrator for 89.7 WKSU-FM Radio.

 

Mr. Crandall has also served as a volunteer member of the Technology Committee of the Century Federal Credit Union.

 

 

 

III. PROFESSIONAL EXPERIENCE

Position:                Systems Engineer                              

 

Duties and Responsibilities:  As  Systems Engineer for RMS,  Mr. Crandall has served the NASA Lewis Research Center as part of the CCNS contract.  Mr. Crandall provides UNIX system support for  the Structures & Acoustics Division. Responsibilities include the installation and configuration of new hardware, software, and system patches, software upgrades and license maintenance, security auditing, system backups, procurement of supplies, evaluation of system performance, and recommendations for future purchases.  Mr. Crandall is also available for consultation by the user community on a daily basis. 

 

Additionally, Mr. Crandall is currently the acting administrator of several IBM AIX workstations. Mr. Crandall has been responsible for the installation and configuration of EDS CAD/CAM software on these systems, including Unigraphics and UGMX.

 

Mr. Crandall was also the primary administrator of the NASA Lewis central SMTP server and POP3 server.  These two machines provide mail service to approximately 3,500 users.  As  administrator, Mr. Crandall was responsible for system uptime, creation & deletion of accounts, maintenance of aliases and mailing lists, etc.   Mr. Crandall also planned, tested, and executed a live hardware and software upgrade to the POP3 server.

                *                The installation & configuration of Sun Microsystems computers including Ultra Enterprise Servers, SPARCservers, Ultra’s, SPARCstations, and other Sun systems.

 

                *                The installation & configuration of  SGI systems including SGI Origin Series systems, Challenge L’s, Octane’s, O2’s, Indigo2’s, Indigo’s, and Indy’s.

 

                *                The day-to-day administration of Sun Solaris, SGI Irix, and IBM AIX systems.

 

                *                The installation & configuration of NFS file servers, clients, and  automounters, as well as Windows95-based NFS clients.

 

                *                The installation & configuration of  web, sendmail, pop3, majordomo, and ftp servers.

 

                *                The installation & configuration of  FLEXlm and ELAN license management systems including triad systems.

 

                *                The installation & configuration of tape backup and CD-ROM mastering systems.

 

                *                The installation & configuration of various UNIX software packages including Ansys, EDS Unigraphics, UGMX, MSC Patran, MARC, and other CAD/CAM and FEM packages.

 

                *                The almost constant composition of perl scripts, awk-scripts, shell code, and C code to address and resolve the continous stream of problems that confront a system administrator on a daily basis.

                *                The development of web content for the WKSU web page, including web content with embedded forms, Java, Javascript, and perl-based cgi-bin’s.

 

                *                The initial planning and implementation of the WKSU  “Voters First” web page.  This web page was developed in collaboration with National Public Radio and was the first of its kind to include pictures, transcripts, and audio-on-demand interviews of over 70 candidates for public office in the State of Ohio.

 

                *                General PC support in a Novell NetWare environment, including first-level support for the Microsoft Office suite.
